The bonus-point win sees the Warriors climb into the top five of the Magners League. Both Scottish professional teams are now present in the top half of the Magners League table. Lome Fa’atau crossed the line in the opening exchanges as Max Evans broke the line to send the Samoan international in for the score. Dan Parks slotted the conversion in blustery conditions.
Ulster then found their feet and edged back into the lead through tries from Isaac Boss and Roger Wilson. Paddy Wallace could only add the extra points to the first score. Glasgow then showed their class as Graeme Morrison sliced through the defence to unleash pacey back-row forward Johnnie Beattie. Parks missed the conversion. Beattie’s try gave the Warriors a 12-15 lead at half-time, but it was the elder of the Evans brothers who was to impress once again in his first outing at this level at outside centre.
Just as Glasgow looked to be putting the game out of Ulster’s reach, Scotland international Simon Danielli found the line followed shortly after by his right wing team-mate, Tommy Bowe. Wallace converted Bowe’s try to swing the lead back in favour of the Ulstermen. However, the team with the most passion and determination shone through in the end as Parks notched another two penalties and capped off a try from the younger Evans brother, Thom, who made it a try double for the sibling duo. The Warriors now face Munster at Musgrave Park in Cork next Saturday in their last game of the season before they return to Glasgow for pre-season training. Glasgow Warriors remained resilient as they weathered a late surge from Ulster at Ravenhill this afternoon to continue their winning streak which was re-established four games ago in their away clash with Newport-Gwent Dragons at the end of March down at Rodney Parade.
Parks then kicked a successful penalty to settle Glasgow into the game as they held a ten point lead after as many minutes.
Having gathered the ball just outside his own 22, Evans jinked his way through the Ulster defence and had enough in the tank to find the opposition line. Parks converted.
