Glasgow University Women’s rugby club would like to say a huge thank you to Donna Kennedy and Boyd Carswell who came to give a training session on Monday 28 January.

This once in a life time session was the result of winning first prize in a competition run by the SWRU for the best freshers’ recruitment drive. Over 30 girls attended the session and maximum effort was shown by all.

The session focused on positioning in contact, shutting down an attack and taking a tackle on your own terms and ball retention.

The session was greatly received with everyone showing an improvement in all aspects focused on.

The night finished in a hotly contested XV-a-side conditioned game with Donna’s team edging to victory!

As well as the training session some of the training equipment used was kindly donated to the team.

Team Secretary Ruth Howie said: '''It was a really fun session that was designed in such a way that everyone could take part, regardless of their ability and definitely gave us some stuff to work on!

“The night has really set the standard for future training, and will hopefully be put to practice with continued success in our upcoming fixtures”

Already the success and benefits of the session have been evident with victory against Edinburgh University just days later. Everyone at Glasgow Warriors would like to wish the team good luck for the remainder of the season!

The Glasgow University Women’s team are a fully signed up to the Champion Warriors scheme and have been right behind the Warriors all season.
