GIRLS TOO HOT TO HANDLE

Ayr U18 Girls

At a Glasgow tournament organised by the Scottish women's Rugby Union, playing their first competitive games of the season Ayr U18 girls showed no mercy as they won all their games whilst maintaining a score sheet with no points against them to return home with the silverware.

A score in the first minute set the scene for a great team display as they saw off Carrick 27-0. Next up were Hillhead/Jordanhill and a 10-0 score line was enough to secure the spoils.

Their Coach said "It was a real team performance with plenty of ball secured to make the scoring opportunities. The girls had been looking forward to the day for several weeks as it was competitive rugby that was needed after many weekes of hard training".

The team followed this with a home tie against Cowall which saw another clean sheet and plenty of tries scored by Ayr.

The first round of the Under 18 Scottish Cup saw the team paired with Carrick once again and the two teams put on a display of running rugby with plenty of big hitting tackles dominating the game. Ayr won the game 27-10.

BOYS STEAMING AHEAD

Ayr U16s

As the S2s, 15s, 16s, 17s and 18s all recorded victories during October and November, it certainly demonstrates some strength and depth at Millbrae.

Early November saw the 16s and 17s top their respective Glasgow Leagues and an enthusiastic Millbrae crowd gathered to watch Ayr U16s celebrate their winning of the Glasgow District League with a convincing victory over West of Scotland by 53-5. The game against West typified the season to date with Ayr forwards dominant in all phases of the game, creating sufficient clean and quick ball to allow the backs time and space to run in some excellent tries.

This concluded the regional qualifiers for Ayr with a record seven wins from seven games and a points tally of 333 for and only 35 against.

Mixed fortunes however for the U17s, following their 36-0 victory at Dumfries, which left them at the top of the league, a string of good results for East Kilbride left Ayr to battle it out with West of Scotland for second place. West of Scotland and Ayr finished tied on league points, with Ayr settling for third place based on points scored.
