Graeme Morrison dives over for the Warriors' third try of the night

The Glasgow Warriors posted their fifth straight unbeaten home result at The Arena tonight as they claimed a bonus point win against Viadana in the second round of the Heineken Cup.

The game was a closely fought affair, strewn with errors and costly mistakes, which in the end led to the visitors going home with a bonus point of their own.

Warriors head coach, Sean Lineen, was suitably disappointed with his men: “That was as under-whelming as I’ve seen from a Glasgow team since I became involved with Glasgow.

“It was a bad day at the office, I’ve nothing good to say about the game.”

The shaky start to the game saw fans’ favourite, Bernardo Stortoni, make an uncharacteristic error by standing off a high ball. The bounce was unkind and gave Viadana winger Hayden Pederson an easy run in for their first try. Former Warrior Calvin Howarth converted.

The Warriors then began to find their feet and ran in three tries through Hefin O’Hare, Dan Parks and Graeme Morrison.

O’Hare, who is sponsored by the Glasgow Warriors Supporters’ Club, pounced on a long ball mid-flight and tried to offload round the back of his tackler. As the defender batted the ball to ground, the ball sprung back into the hands of O’Hare who darted over the line.

It was then the ‘Dan Parks show’ as the Scotland stand-off notched up a penalty, a try and a conversion in the space of eight minutes.

Parks’ try came from a great show of hands from himself and centre Morrison.

It was then Morrison himself who crossed to complete the mini-rout of Viadana. A great break from Scott Barrow gave Glasgow acres of space in which to operate and a simple pass to his right sent Morrison to the line, beating his defender to cross.

Pederson then claimed his second try to pull Viadana back to within ten points of the hosts.

Viadana then crept back into the game as a Howarth penalty, a Aldo Birchall try and a Howarth conversion saw the Italians level the scores at 24-24.

Parks then slotted a penalty to put the Warriors back in front, but ten minutes later, Sam Pinder touched down at full stretch to give the Warriors the edge going into the final quarter. Parks converted.

Stortoni then made a good break to bring Pinder back into play who set up John Barclay for a score with a neat inside pass. Parks converted for a 100% record.

Viadana claimed a bonus point with their fourth try in injury time as Steven Bortolussi crossed with a sublime chip and chase. Howarth converted.
